Cost! How to manage it by means of innovation?
The Organizing Committee is now opening the call for papers.
This Congress is intended to be a forum of communication and discussion about the last developments on basic research, new products and technologies, analytical procedures and applications, manufacture, ecology, environmental norms and restrictions related to the Coatings Industry.
EUROCOAT 2012 Congress will be the debate tribune for all people, institutions, groups and trade associations interested on the technical and scientific aspects of paint and coatings world.
Enforcing the idea initiated during EUROCOAT 2006 in Barcelona and pursued in Genoa’s EUROCOAT 2007 and Barcelona 2009, we are going to give the floor to the leading actors of the Coatings Chain.

Due to the economic slowdown, paint and ink producers were hoping for materials price descend and easier availability.
Instead, after the experts, this is illusory during 2012. Even after a consumption demand decrease inside EU, the expectations for coatings and printing inks raw materials prices are expected to rise.
As a conclusion it is clear that according to the experts, during 2012 paint and coatings producers will need to develop some strategy to manage the pressure of raw materials on the manufacturing costs.
Answering to this reality and trying to analyse the different costs by all the stepwise process, from conception to the last product application, the Congress main subject will be:

- Cost reduction by paint formulation development (Laboratory, pilot plant)
Experimental design, previous properties analysis - Cost reduction by paint formulation
New binders, pigments and fillers with new properties. Efficient Additive - Cost reduction during paint production
New production processes, efficient layouts, pre-formulated preparations, dispersions, pigment pastes - Cost reductions for packing, storing and transport processes
New offers for packaging and installations - Cost reduction during coating application
Application technologies efficacy. Optimisation of drying and curing processes

The presentations will be oral communications of 25 minutes greatest, including 5 minutes for discussion. Full text (with images) will be published in the Congress Proceedings (CD). The text need to be in accordance with the usual conditions of high level of innovation, not being published previously and clearly written according to standards, with commercial references at a minimum.
OFFICIAL LANGUAGES
Official languages will be Spanish and English. No simultaneous translation service will be available. Supporting texts and presentations will be only in English.
DEADLINES
Before May 31st, 2012. Reception, by post or electronic mail, of pre-inscription Bulletin including lecture title, author names, language to be used and a summary of max. 10 lines in English and Spanish. The acknowledgement will be sent quickly, together with the guidelines for the written text, in order to be published in the Proceedings of the Congress (CD).
Before July 30th, 2012. Reception by post of full text and graphics in CD (Word). Only the completed texts will opt for Eurocoat 2012 prix.
Before July 30th, 2012. Reception of inscription form to the Congress. The author who appears in the first place, or the speaker, will enjoy a reduction of 50% in the corresponding inscription fees.
PRIZES
3 Prizes will be offered
“GOLDEN COAT” prize from EUROCOAT 2012 to the best communication,
"Francisco CLARAMUNT" prize from EUROCOAT 2012 to the best Spanish language communication,
"Juan G. CASTÁN" prize from EUROCOAT 2012, valued with 600 €, to the best communication made by Research Institutions (Universities, Technological Institutes, Research Centres…)
